Message from Suzi Fregeau, LTCOP Coordinator/Manager

If you, a friend or family member lives in, or is considering a local skilled nursing facility, please take a few minutes to read these three articles.

  1. Unmasked:  How California’s largest nursing home chains perform
  2. Unmasked: Who owns California’s nursing homes?
  3. Part 3: California falls short in disclosing nursing-home ownership

The role of the Long Term Care Ombudsman (LTCOP) is to advocate for the residents of skilled nursing facilities – and we do.  However it is going to take the voices of all of us to make the changes necessary to treat these individuals with respect and dignity.

Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCO) is available to assist you with concerns or questions about RCFE’s in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties.  See this interesting article from ProPublica Journalism in the Public Interest on Elderly at Risk and Haphazardly Protected.
