Senior Nutrition Services

Area 1 Agency on Aging contracts with Senior Centers in Humboldt and Del Norte Counties to provide Senior Nutrition Services that help older adults improve their nutrient intake, decrease social isolation, and assist with maintaining their health and independence in the community.

The program encourages the use of volunteers and gives all participants the opportunity to contribute to the meal cost. No eligible participant will be denied a meal because of inability to contribute.

Senior Nutrition Services consists of:

  • Home-Delivered Meals
    • The Home-Delivered Nutrition Program provides nutritious meals, nutrition education, and nutrition risk screening to individuals 60 years of age or over who are homebound by reason of illness or disability, or who are otherwise isolated. Program goals are targeted to the reduction of social isolation and the promotion of better health through nutrition.
  • Congregate Meals/Dining Sites (as of 7.1.2021 providing TO GO meals only.)
    • Hot, nutritious meals are delivered in a congregate setting to provide opportunities for friendship, socialization and activities.
